Everything you need to know about V41 asynchronous downhill mountain bike racing

What's an asynchronous race?

A race when you ride anytime within the race window and submit your time through Strava. The fastest time at the end of the race period wins. You race when you want to and can submit race times as frequently as you'd like.

How do I enter?

  1. Join the V41 Strava club: https://www.strava.com/clubs/v41racing
  2. Make sure your account is set to public. Private accounts can't be tracked.
  3. Complete the form to tell us a little about yourself: Sign Up Form
  4. Find the current race on the race page
  5. Record your time on the course with Strava
  6. Title your Strava ride: "V41 Race"
  7. Enter as many laps as you want before the end of the race
  8. Check the leaderboards

Who can race?

We'll roll out different categories of riders as the community grows. For now anyone can enter and we have divisions for regular bikes and e-bikes.

Issues with Strava recording

Strava can be imprecise. Make sure you know where the segment for the race starts and ends so you're riding the full segment at race pace. Always start and end your Strava activity well before the segment start and stop it well after. You can just record your whole ride like usual.

Can't find your time on the race segment?

If you can't find your time on your activity, then view it from the Strava website and click on "Hidden Efforts", or check your activity map where the segment finishes.

What do I get if I win?

We're working on sourcing local companies to sponsor races and prizes. For now you get the pride of knowing you're the fastest of fast. Maybe we'll throw you a V41 shirt or sticker...

Where do I find my Strava profile link?

You can go to your profile and there is a "Vanity URL" you can copy and paste into the submission form.

The V41 Sustainability Code (Community Stewardship)

Respect the Dirt. Protect the Access.

V41 is committed to sustainable trail usage. Our asynchronous model is designed to reduce the peak-hour impact common with traditional racing. To ensure we remain good stewards of the land, all participants agree to the Sustainability Code:

  • Observe the Window: Races take place over a 10-day period. This allows riders to choose off-peak times to record their runs, keeping trail density low and manageable.
  • Dispersed Arrival: To avoid overcrowding trailheads, please do not congregate in large groups. If primary parking is at 50% capacity, utilize alternative legal parking areas.
  • Leave No Trace: V41 is a "Digital-Only" footprint. We do not use tape, physical signage, or course markers. Leave the trail exactly as you found it.
  • Yield to Non-Racers: V41 sessions take place on multi-use trails. Riders must always yield to hikers, horses, and uphill traffic. Chasing a PR is never an excuse for poor trail etiquette.
